This private, tailor‑made journey takes you from the historic goldfields of Kalgoorlie to the pristine southern coastline around Esperance, combining remote outback travel with some of Western Australia's most striking coastal landscapes. Over five guided days, you explore the vast Great Western Woodlands, drive through secluded inland tracks, and follow the coast through Cape Arid and Cape Le Grand National Parks, with time to enjoy beaches, wildlife, and dramatic granite headlands.
Travelling in purpose‑equipped Land Cruisers, your private group gains access to remote areas rarely visited, with experiences shaped by seasonal conditions, tides, and group interests. Activities may include four‑wheel driving on sand and gravel, coastal walks, swimming or snorkelling in sheltered bays, fishing, and wildlife encounters. Comfortable camping, freshly prepared meals, and experienced guides ensure a balance of adventure, learning, and relaxation throughout the journey.
The guided section concludes in Esperance, after which the itinerary continues at your own pace along the south coast to Denmark, Yallingup, and Perth, allowing flexibility and personal exploration. Designed exclusively for your group, this journey offers an immersive and authentic way to experience Western Australia's remote landscapes—without crowds and without rushing.
The journey begins early in Kalgoorlie, where your Proudback guides meet you for a tour of the Super Pit. You'll then take the wheel of your Land Cruiser and head South. Exploring the Great Western Woodlands, you'll get your personal introduction to outback driving, led by your Proudback guides. You'll learn how to handle your Land Cruiser across different terrain, manage tyre pressures, engage four-wheel drive systems, and safely recover a vehicle if required. Training extends beyond driving. You'll learn efficient ways to communicate, manage supplies and water, and understand how Proudback ensures safety and comfort in remote environments. Feeling comfortable behind the wheels, you'll be setting up your first camp in the remote Australian Outback! As evening settles, you'll gather around the fire (if conditions allow) and enjoy your first freshly cooked bush meal under the Southern stars.
We leave our camping spot in the morning and head further South. Have fun behind the wheels. By afternoon, we enter Cape Arid National Park, where long white beaches, granite outcrops and clear Southern Ocean water define the landscape. Camp is set near the coast, with the chance to fish from shore or take a swim or snorkel before sunset..
Day 3 is a slower day, giving you time to explore Cape Arid properly. The morning starts with an extensive breakfast and may include short walks, fishing, swimming at sheltered bays or a visit to selected lookouts depending on weather and track access. The area is known for its wildlife, including wallabies, kangaroos and birdlife that move across the dunes and mallee scrub. Camp remains in the same location for another night, with dinner prepared together at the end of the day.
After packing up camp, the day begins with a back-track through Cape Arid before taking the coastal access into Cape Le Grand National Park. This route shifts between soft beach driving and inland sand tracks, offering a mix of terrain. Around lunch time, we reach the granite coastline of Cape Le Grand, known for its sheltered bays and bright turquoise water. The day focuses on the beaches and headlands around Lucky Bay, one of Western Australia's most recognisable coastal areas. Camp is set close to the beach, giving time for a walk or a swim before sunset.
Morning often brings kangaroos onto the sand in Lucky Bay, and there is time to explore the beach, swim or walk sections of the coastal track. We'll be leaving camp after lunch, spending he afternoon with further stops such as Hellfire Bay or Frenchman Peak, depending on conditions and group preference before we reach Esperance in the late afternoon. It is time to part way here, where you will spend the night in Esperance and Proudback makes it way back to Perth.
Stop at Elephant Rocks and Green Pool, do the Giant-of-the-Tree-Top-Walk in Walpole. Explore Yallingup then make your way to Perth for your flight out.

A moderate level of fitness is recommended as tours involve some walking on uneven terrain and getting in/out of vehicles. However, we tailor activities to group capabilities and always offer alternatives. If you have concerns about fitness requirements, please contact us to discuss the specific tour you're interested in.
We camp under the stars in some of Australia's most spectacular locations. Each vehicle is equipped with high-quality swags (single or double) with comfortable mattresses. We also stay at established campgrounds and station stays that offer additional facilities.
Yes! We carry portable toilet facilities for remote camping, and many of our campsites and station stays have toilet and shower facilities. Hot showers are available at most overnight stops, and we always ensure dignified and comfortable arrangements.
Safety is our priority. All our vehicles carry satellite communication devices (satellite phones and/or PLBs) for emergency contact. While mobile coverage is limited in remote areas, we can facilitate emergency communications when needed. We recommend informing family of the tour dates and that contact may be limited.
Tour prices include vehicle hire (fully equipped 4WD), all camping equipment (swags, chairs, tables), all meals from lunch on day one to lunch on the final day, park entry fees, experienced guide services, satellite communications, and comprehensive tour briefings. Flights, travel insurance, and personal items are not included.
