The sand dunes that lie before us are truly sensational, counted among the most remarkable in the world. Navigating these towering dunes requires both skill and courage, and the remote landscape enveloping us will leave you in awe. As the day draws to a close, we’ll arrive at the homestead campsite, where you’ll relish some home comforts including warm showers and flushing toilets. Indulge in a special ‘Inscription’ gin and tonic crafted with the island’s rare botanicals. Dirk Hartog Island is also home to a unique wildlife conservation project called Return to 1616, aimed at restoring the island’s fauna and flora to its pre-colonization state. As a result, you’ll have the chance to encounter some of the rarest endangered species on the island, including nocturnal marsupials. After dinner, we’ll enjoy a special guided walk through the wilderness to witness the wonders of native Australian wildlife, with a focus on the endangered wallabies that call this island home.
